Michelin Star Restaurants

The 5 new restaurants which have been awarded with a Michelin Star are “Al Sud”, “A Ver Tavira”, “Cura”, “Esporão” and “Vila Foz”. It was during the 2022 Michelin Guide Spain and Portugal ceremony in Valencia (Spain), 14th December, that the organization announced the most recent Portuguese Restaurants with a Michelin Star.

Michelin Green Star

Portugal has also been awarded the first two Michelin Green Stars (“Il Galo d’Oro” and “Esporão”) which highlights restaurants at the forefront of the industry when it comes to their sustainable practices.

Michelin Criteria

The Michelin distinctions recognize the quality of the cuisine, based on five criteria anonymously evaluated by the inspectors: product quality, mastery of cooking points and textures, balance and harmony of flavors, cuisine personality and regularity.
